Due to retirement, we are looking to recruit an experienced, motivated, enthusiastic, and dedicated Healthcare Assistant with experience of working within a general practice environment to join our busy and friendly team.
Working 20 hours per week over 4 days, Monday 8-5, Tuesday 8-12, Wednesday 8-12, and Thursday 8-12.
You will work strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols under the direct supervision of GPs and the practice nursing team. You must be competent in phlebotomy and working with patients with long-term conditions. You will support the clinical team in the provision and delivery of quality health and care services.
Main duties of the job
* The successful candidate must be able to use Emis Web and be accurate and conscientious in record-keeping of all patient contact using appropriate templates and read coding.

We are a friendly, forward-thinking, supportive training practice with around 8,600 patients. Our team includes 5 GP partners (3 male, 2 female), 3 practice nurses, 1 mental health practitioner, 1 GPA, in-house physiotherapists, social prescriber, admin, reception team, and a prescription clerk.
Job responsibilities
To undertake and record the following tasks (not exhaustive):
* Height
* Weight (BMI)
* Blood pressure
* Pulse
* Temperature
* Venepuncture
* ECGs
* Urinalysis
* Peak flow rates
* Diabetic foot checks
* Administer B12 injections under PSD
* Spirometry/Reversibility under PSD
* ABPM
* Chronic disease management as applicable
* Assist with minor operations
* Recognise changes and abnormalities in patients' conditions and act accordingly—notify GP/Nurse of any significant issues
* Stock control and ordering
* Fridge temperature recording
* Legionella/water temperature checks and recording
* Awareness of national standards of infection control, cleanliness, and regulatory/professional requirements and good practice guidelines
* Act as chaperone
* Maintain confidentiality and recall system for clinics
* Undertake administrative duties when required, assisting with QOF
* Make suggestions for ongoing development
* Processing of patient samples
* Safe management of sharps procedures, including training, use, storage, and disposal
* Waste management
* Make effective use of training to update knowledge and skills

Qualifications
* Experience working within a primary care environment
* Qualified in NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
