Electrical Engineering Manager

Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 (depending on experience)

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead all Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) activities at a major industrial site in Purfleet. This is a senior, high-impact role with significant responsibility for safety, plant performance and engineering leadership.

The Role
As the site’s Electrical Duty Holder, you will act as the technical authority for all electrical and EC&I systems. You will ensure plant reliability, safety, compliance and continuous improvement, while managing an in‑house team of electricians and EC&I technicians.
You will oversee LV–HV systems (up to 11kV), PLC/SCADA systems, instrumentation, communications networks and all associated electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the Electrical Duty Holder and act as the site HV SAP
* Lead the operation, maintenance and improvement of all EC&I systems
* Plan and manage both preventative and reactive maintenance activity
* Lead and develop the site electrical/EC&I team, including rota management
* Oversee day‑to‑day contractors and EC&I project work packages
* Drive compliance with BS7671, BS6626 and all relevant legislation
* Administer and maintain site control systems, including PLC maintenance, fault finding and backups
* Plan and deliver major plant outages and shutdowns
* Manage EC&I budgets and critical spare parts inventory
* Explore and deliver energy‑saving opportunities to support net‑zero ambitions
* Promote a strong culture of safety and ensure safe systems of work
About You
You will be a motivated and safety‑focused engineering professional with strong technical expertise and the confidence to lead critical site systems and teams.
Skills & Experience
* Industrial electrical engineering background
* Time‑served electrician or EC&I professional
* Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred (HNC/HND with experience also considered)
* Strong knowledge of LV/HV systems, MCCs, motors, VSDs, transformers & switchgear
* Experience with PLCs, instrumentation, industrial communication networks and control loops
* HV SAP experience or willingness to undertake SAP responsibilities
* Understanding of preventative maintenance and structured fault‑finding
* Excellent leadership, communication and planning skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
