I’m a board-certified radiation oncologist starting an educational YouTube channel about cancer. My goal is to explain complex cancer topics to patients and families in a way that’s clear, accurate, and easy to follow. I record raw long-form videos (with multiple attempts/re-takes) and need an editor who can polish these into smooth, professional, viewer-friendly content. What you’ll do: Edit directly in Descript (I’ll add you to my workspace) Remove repeated takes, tighten long pauses, reduce filler words Improve audio (noise cleanup, leveling, balance) Add light on-screen text for emphasis (e.g., “Step 1: Get a second opinion”) Insert relevant stock images, b-roll, or graphics to illustrate points (e.g., anatomy diagrams, hospital footage, simple animations, chemo-port, PICC line, IV line) Typical deliverables per video: 1 long-form episode: 10-25 minutes Exported final in H.264 (high bitrate) Must-have experience: Strong Descript skills (not just Premiere or Final Cut) Previous work editing YouTube educational or talking-head videos Ability to make videos engaging without over-editing (professional, clear, not flashy) Strong sense of pacing and flow for educational content Nice to have: Basic motion graphics or infographics Experience with medical/health/science content (but not mandatory) Trial Run (Episode 1) (paid): Let’s start with Episode 1. You’ll edit this first video so I can see your style and workflow. Once I review it and give feedback, we’ll decide if it’s a good fit before moving on to future episodes. How to apply (please answer all): Share 2-3 examples of YouTube or educational videos you edited Confirm your Descript proficiency (yes/no level) State your rate per video package (1 long-form ) and turnaround time Your time zone & weekly availability Budget: Open to fixed price per episode. Workflow: I’ll invite you to my Descript workspace
