Our Infrastructure & Cloud Services team provides technical support for a variety of critical business systems such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune and Configuration Manager), Active Directory, Entra ID, Windows 11 and Mobile Device platforms, Azure Virtual Desktop, Public Key Infrastructure and Microsoft 365 Applications and Services.
Avon and Somerset Police relies on technology to provide information to deliver policing to our local communities. The Information Technology Directorate comprises IT professionals who are dedicated to IT provision that directly supports policing.
This role is predominantly home working but with a current requirement to attend the office (Police HQ, Portishead) with the wider team once a week.
Salary & Allowances
Salaries: £47,046 – £50,949. The role is eligible for a market supplement of up to £3,700 per annum.
Allowances: Call Out / Standby, Market Factors Allowance.
Hours per week: 37.
Key Responsibilities
Providing comprehensive support to a range of services, including:
* Maintenance and administration of Microsoft Endpoint Manager Configuration Manager (Application deployment and troubleshooting, OS build task sequences including drivers and BIOS configuration)
* Administration and support of Microsoft Intune (Autopilot enrolment / deployment of modern managed windows devices, mobile device enrolment profiles, Intune app deployment).
* Management of the client endpoint and server estate through group policy and Intune configuration profiles/policies.
* Configuration, Management and troubleshooting of Azure Virtual Desktop hosts and associated dependencies.
* Ongoing support and maintenance of AD Directory Services including DNS and Public Key Services.
* Management and Configuration of Entra ID and Microsoft 365 Applications and Services to align to national policing standards.
* Support and maintenance of on-premises Kemp Loadmaster Load Balancers
* Provision, development and solutioning
* Installation and configuration
* Input to development of standards
* Service monitoring, asset management, pro-active prevention, and associated maintenance
* Fault diagnosis and resolution
* Upgrades and Patching
Additional Information
Driving licence: There will be occasions when you are required to travel around the force area; the successful person will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
Following a successful probation period, this post may have a potential on‑call requirement for which appropriate allowances will be paid.
Skills & Experience
* 3+ years’ experience in a similar role with solid Microsoft 365 skills
* Working knowledge of Kemp Loadmaster load balancers would be advantageous
* Strong computer literacy and understanding of technologies beyond end‑user experience
* Strong demonstrated experience of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Nerdio Manager for enterprise would be highly advantageous.
* Experience in relevant technologies (including Azure, Windows Servers, end‑user devices, Windows system administrative tools and complex line‑of‑business applications)
* Excellent communication skills with experience of collaborating across multiple people/teams and developing good working relationships
* Pro‑active approach to problem solving
* Methodical approach to organisation of workloads
