IGV (It’s Gone Viral) is looking for a brilliant Content Editor with experience as a journalist or reporter who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom environment. This is a mid-level role within the team, and it’s essential you have an in-depth knowledge of media law, and a strong track record of delivering a wide range of trending, entertainment or lifestyle stories at a national or regional title, while understanding what works for a digital audience.
You should have first-rate writing, subbing and editing skills, and relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. You’re social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and you're familiar with newsroom analytics and content management systems such as Wordpress. You’re flexible, passionate and know what makes a great story!
What do we require?
* A journalistic background with newsroom experience Outstanding writing, research and fact-checking skills
* Previous experience in a similar role Target-driven and the ability to meet tight deadlines
* A high standard of written English
* A university degree in journalism, media or broadcasting and/or NCTJ- qualified
* Experience in social media, with a strong knowledge of Facebook, Instagram and X
* Experience scheduling and posting content via Facebook, Instagram and X
* Experience packaging articles - creating captions, titles and thumbnails to generate traffic
* Experience working as part of a team with strong teamwork skills
* Knowledge of journalism law and ethics
Desirable Skills
* SEO knowledge and experience - or a willingness to learn
* A proven ability to come up with new and original ideas that will go viral
* The ability to instinctively spot a story that the audience will love to hear about
* Ability to collaborate on ideas with other team members, working together to develop concepts for the audience and make them better
