Job Title: Cleansing Operative - Local Authority (Somerset Region)
Location: Based at Glastonbury Depot
Start Date: Monday, 14th October 2025
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Pay Rate: £14.10 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week (Saturday to Wednesday, early starts)
About the Role:
We are looking for dependable and hardworking Cleansing Operatives to join the Environmental Services team for a 13-week temporary contract, working with a local authority in the Somerset region.
Starting each shift from the Glastonbury depot between 5am and 6am, this role is best suited to someone who lives locally and is happy with early morning starts.
This is an active, outdoor position helping to keep public spaces clean, safe, and pleasant for residents and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Emptying dog waste bins and public litter bins
Litter picking in streets, parks, and open spaces
Manual sweeping of footpaths and public areas
Fly-tip removal and general cleansing tasks
Driving and operating a work vehicle provided by the local authority
Working Pattern:
Days: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Days Off: Thursday & Friday
Start Time: Between 5:00am - 6:00am, based from Glastonbury depot
Weekly Hours: 37 hours
Requirements:
Full UK Driving Licence - essential (vehicle provided for duties)
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Good attention to detail and a proactive attitude
Local to the Glastonbury area due to early start times
Experience in cleansing or grounds maintenance is helpful but not essential
