We are currently seeking a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist with experience in either Haematology (Morphology) or Transfusion Science (Grifols platform) to join our client's busy and well-established laboratory service in Yorkshire. This is a full-time, ongoing position offering flexibility in working patterns and a competitive hourly rate.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on your specialism, you will be involved in:
Haematology (Morphology):
* Performing full blood counts, coagulation studies, and detailed blood film morphology
* Ensuring accurate analysis and interpretation of results
* Maintaining quality control and contributing to clinical decision-making
Transfusion (24/7 Shift):
* Conducting blood grouping, antibody screening, and compatibility testing
* Managing urgent transfusion requests in a high-pressure environment
* Operating Grifols platforms (e.g., Erytra, DG Gel) and ensuring compliance with UKAS/MHRA standards
Qualifications and Experience
* HCPC registration
* Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent
* Proven experience in either Haematology (with morphology) or Transfusion Science
* Familiarity with relevant analysers Siemens in Haematology or Grifols in Transfusion
* Experience with Winpath LIMS
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
* NHS experience (preferred)
