Lecturer in Children's Nursing (0119-26) – Derby, DE22 1GB

About the Role

We are looking for an inspiring Lecturer in Children’s Nursing to deliver high‑quality teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will design engaging learning experiences, contribute to assessment and feedback, and help shape innovative modules that reflect current professional practice.

You will be actively involved in research or scholarly activity, working with colleagues and external partners to enhance the University’s reputation and contribute to sector‑leading practice. The role also includes personal tutoring, pastoral support, and participation in recruitment, marketing, and key administrative processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a children’s nursing professional who is interested in education, student development, and advancing the profession.

This role is a fixed‑term contract for 24 months.

About You

You will be a registered Children’s Nurse with the NMC, holding a relevant honours degree and ideally a PhD or equivalent professional achievement, or a commitment to work towards this. You will bring strong subject knowledge in children’s nursing and an enthusiasm for teaching, with experience or understanding of higher education and the ability to engage students through varied and effective delivery methods.

You will demonstrate developing research or scholarly activity within your field, alongside the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, work collaboratively, and build strong professional relationships. Digitally confident and well‑organised, you will manage competing priorities effectively and be committed to delivering an excellent student experience.

You will understand the wider higher education context, including employability and internationalisation, and show creativity, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The role requires a flexible approach to working hours, occasional travel, participation in University events, and dedication to your own ongoing professional development.

Benefits

* Generous annual leave entitlement of 47 days inclusive of bank holidays and concessionary days (pro rata)
* Teacher’s Pension Scheme
* Suite of holistic wellbeing benefits and support including family‑friendly policies, generous sick pay provision and comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme
* Access to a variety of staff discounts at high street retailers
* Discounted onsite gym
* Cycle to Work scheme
* A flexible working environment
* A commitment to personal and professional development
