About the Role
Roku is looking for an experienced UX Product Designer with strong mobile interaction design skills to lead the design of key Mobile streaming experiences. This work will mainly focus on mobile streaming experiences and associated workflows such as subscription and account management. We know your time is valuable, so we love being transparent about our hiring processes. For this Product Design role, we’ll start with a call from your dedicated Roku recruiter. Then you’ll have a follow-up call with the Hiring Manager (UX Design Manager). After that, we’ll ask you to do a 35-minute portfolio presentation to a cross-functional, 4-person panel of designers, researchers, and product managers. In this presentation, we’ll want you to walk us through a couple of projects you’ve done that you’re especially proud of. You’ll tell us what your role was, what your process was, how it turned out, and what you learned from it – showing artifacts from your process along the way. Then you’ll have one-on- one meetings with the panel for follow-up questions and other conversations. Throughout the process, your Roku recruiter will be there for you every step of the way!
What you’ll be doing
1. Conceptualize and deliver design for mobile app features that enhance both content discovery, playback and management
2. Communicate designs - articulating design rationale and creating effective design artifacts (wireframes, flows, specs, etc.)
3. Contribute at every step of the product development life-cycle from general product discovery, research, ideation and AB tests
4. Conduct and participate in design reviews with a range of stakeholders across the organization
5. Balance qualitative and quantitative data to make user-centered design decisions
6. Work closely with Product Managers to identify the problems and business goals that your designs will addres
7. Partner with User Researchers to determine and execute the ideal research method to gather customer insights or evaluate designs
We’re excited if you have
8. 6+ years relevant experience in Mobile Product Design
9. Proficiency in delivering delightful and effective consumer mobile app experiences and/or shipped products, demonstrating deep fluency with both Material and iOS design guidelines
10. Experience designing for streaming experiences and familiarity with common asset considerations and constraints
11. Experience designing patterns and components used across many product surfaces (mobile, tablet)
12. Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment, and to embrace opportunities to rapidly iterate on designs
13. Experience collaborating with product managers, developers, and management to refine design concepts through rapid iterations, meeting the goals of both users and the business
14. Hands-on experience working with User Researchers (or conducting User Research yourself) and utilizing the results of that research to shape your designs
15. A passion for getting the subtle details right when it comes to creating a high-performing, world-class experience
