Are you a Nurse or Paramedic looking for a new direction? This bank opportunity involves working alongside the Police in custody suites, caring for detainees and developing skills in clinical, forensic and wider areas within the criminal justice system.
You must be a Registered (Adult) Nurse/RGN, or a Paramedic with 2 years post-qualification experience, with a passion for delivering gold-standard care and a commitment to developing clinical and forensic skills.
You must have the flexibility to work not only in your base custody suite but across an assigned region and Police Custody Suites and Force area.
What you can expect to earn
Below is based on shifts per month:
* £20.50 per hour – 1-2 shifts
* £22.50 per hour – 3-5 shifts
* £24.50 per hour – 6+ shifts
Experience - Essential
* RN, RGN or (RMN with dual registration): 2 years post-qualification – Band 5 minimum
* Paramedic: 2 years post-qualification
* Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a patient-facing role within a relevant field: General Practice, A&E, Emergency Medicine, acute medicine, Walk-in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare or Ambulance Service
Licence/Certification
* HCPC/NMC (required)
* Driving Licence (required)
* Must be a UK resident for 3 years + no gaps out of country more than 3 months
* All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting
What does the role involve?
The custody suites can be an energetic place to work, with no two shifts the same. While detained, we provide individuals with all their physical, mental healthcare and wellbeing needs, as well as gather any forensic samples needed by the police to aid investigations. You will be making careful records on computerised systems, assessing whether people are fit to be detained or released, administering medications when needed, and working with local Liaison and Diversion teams to address root causes that can prevent future crime.
No previous forensic experience is required; we will provide all training.
