Job Overview
Lead the High Cost Drug area focusing on biologic and biosimilar medicines, ensuring alignment with NICE, commissioning and formulary criteria. Deliver efficient supply routes, including homecare providers, and provide supervision, support and training to the high cost drug and homecare team.
Responsibilities
* Manage and develop the clinical services and delivery of all high cost and homecare medicines to SWB patients.
* Deputise and support the lead pharmacist for High Cost Drugs & Homecare.
* Ensure appropriate clinical and governance arrangements are used for delivery of all homecare medicines and high cost drugs.
* Liaise with Pharmacy Management to ensure operational services are clinically appropriate, safe, efficient and responsive to patient need.
* Support development and maintenance of a homecare strategy, leading clinical and financial aspects of product switching to achieve best value for money.
* Supervise the team of pharmacists and medicines management technicians in the High Cost Drugs & Homecare Hub.
* Maintain effective communication channels and relationships with lead consultants, managers, senior nurse specialists and others.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Pharmacist registered with the GPhC.
* Independent prescriber.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience as a clinical pharmacist in an NHS hospital trust.
* Experience working within a homecare or high cost drug environment.
Additional Requirements
* Completed a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy and/or independent prescribing qualification.
* Knowledge of high cost drug funding.
* UK professional registration required.
