Facilities & Estates Working Supervisor (Caretaker team) As Facilities & Estates Working Supervisor you will maintain a high standard of cleanliness, safety and repair to our estates, blocks and schemes through the supervision of our Caretaker team. You will work within the Repairs team but also closely with colleagues across the Customer Services Directorate to ensure our estates and communal areas are safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for residents and visitors. Covering Blackpool, Blackburn, Preston, Southport and Lancaster. *We encourage early applications, as this vacancy may close early if we receive a high level of interest* What you’ll be doing Lead and supervise a team of caretakers, ensuring workloads are effectively planned, prioritised, and monitored. Carry out and oversee block and communal cleaning to a high standard, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, handrails, balustrades, and light fittings. Monitor estates and schemes for cleanliness, safety hazards, and compliance, taking action or reporting issues such as disrepair, graffiti, or fly tipping. Respond promptly to customer queries on site and maintain positive relationships, promoting a strong image of Great Places in the community. Provide technical advice, deliver toolbox talks, and identify training and upskilling needs for the Caretaking team. Support minor repairs and proactive maintenance, including changing light bulbs, clearing drains, removing weeds, and touch-up painting. Ensure all health, safety, and safeguarding requirements are followed, including risk assessments, PPE use, and reporting accidents, incidents, or near misses. Maintain records and data on cleaning, waste, fly tipping, and maintenance activities, helping to inform productivity and service improvements. What you’ll need Qualifications and training IOSH Managing Safely (desirable). Cleaning and Support Services Skills Level 3 (desirable). Institute of Customer Service or CIH qualification (desirable). Experience Experience in a Caretaker, Cleaner, or similar role. Supervisory or lead role experience, managing staff and workloads. Customer-facing experience delivering high-quality service in busy environments. Experience delivering training or toolbox talks to staff. Experience maintaining health and safety standards, including risk assessments and safe working practices. Basic repairs/handyman experience across common trades (joinery, plumbing, tiling, painting, etc.). Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders. IT literacy (Microsoft Office and operational systems). Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and maintain attention to detail. Professional presentation and ability to represent Great Places positively. Full UK driving licence.
