Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Hazardous Waste team with daily activities related to the regime. The role involves working alongside regulatory reform efforts and assisting the team in transitioning the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The duties and responsibilities include:
* Providing technical support for waste classification.
* Supporting hazardous waste compliance and initiatives to improve it.
* Technical support for priority waste streams.
* Supporting upstream efforts driven by area and national teams.
* Addressing regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and assisting Defra with circular economy initiatives for hazardous waste.
* Supporting enforcement actions to reduce offending as per the control strategy.
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing group within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead in hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling of hazardous waste.

Experience/Skills Required

The role is based at an EA Office location with flexible/hybrid working options. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
