Due to continued growth and increasing demand for bespoke machinery, we’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering team.
This is a hands‑on role focused on the design and development of special‑purpose machinery, working closely with internal teams from concept through to build and delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Designing new machines, retrofits, and upgrades
* Creating 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks
* Producing sales layout drawings (SolidWorks / AutoCAD)
* Generating Bills of Materials (BOMs)
* Creating 2D drawings (assembly, part, fabrication)
* Producing machine manuals and technical documentation
* Supporting the shop floor during machine builds
* Liaising with design and engineering teams to optimise designs
* Identifying and implementing product improvements
* Completing documentation including test plans and validation reports
* Resolving design and build issues with internal stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
* Mechanical engineering qualification (BTEC / HNC or similar)
* Strong background in mechanical design of machinery
* Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD
* Ability to produce BOMs, drawings, and technical documentation
* Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills
* Team player with good communication skills
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* 5+ years’ experience in machinery design
* Experience with AutoCAD (layout drawings)
* Knowledge of pneumatic systems
* Experience building or commissioning machinery
* Exposure to validation and production line processes
* Chartered or working towards
