Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic BSE accredited echocardiographer to join our dynamic and forward thinking team. Applications are welcome from echocardiographers working towards BSE accreditation and aiming for band 7 roles. The department has a history of supporting trainees through the accreditation process.
There are more than 10 echo rooms at Royal Stoke & County Hospitals offering a full range of services including TTE, TOE, DSE, GUCH, contrast and support for structural work in interventional labs. The service supports one-stop clinics for heart valve disease, oncology, heart failure and inherited cardiac conditions. The Heart Centre at UHNM provides tertiary cardiology and cardiothoracic surgical services for a population across Staffordshire, Shropshire, Derbyshire and South Cheshire, plus secondary care cardiology for the local area.
The successful candidate will join a well-established consultant, nursing and technical team with opportunities to participate in continuing development and the success of the service.
Responsibilities
The post involves delivering echocardiography services within UHNM, contributing to heart centre activities and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The department has a track record of developing extended roles and running clinics such as physiologist or scientist led heart valve surveillance clinics, Herceptin echo clinics, stress echo and TOE. There is ongoing development of echocardiographers within the heart failure unit. Opportunities exist to pursue health assessment training, masters level heart failure modules, conferences and to present and publish work.

Qualifications and experience
Essential
* BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Cardiac Science
* BSE Accreditation or recognised equivalent
Desirable
* Subspecialty Accreditation (DSE/GUCH/TOE)
* Leadership Qualification
* Clinical Assessment Training
Experience / Skills
* Essential: Independently performs and reports transthoracic echocardiograms
* Essential: Experience of teaching and training in cardiac science
Desirable
* Experience of Advanced Echo
* Experience of broader cardiac physiology services
