3 or 4 days per week | Independent Practice | Clinical Development Supported
We’re looking for a part-time Optometrist to join our close-knit team at Taylor Biddle Opticians, working across our Compton and Wombourne practices. This is an opportunity to be part of a well-established independent practice that genuinely values patient care, clinical excellence, and professional development.
You will also receive:
* Your birthday off work
* No Sunday or bank holiday working
* Free & regular CPD courses
* Access to Simply Health (claim cashback on healthcare purchases)
* Cycle to work scheme
About the Role
Taylor Biddle has been serving the local community since 1994. We’re proud of the reputation we’ve built for delivering high-quality, personalised eye care in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our team of 23 includes experienced Optometrists, Dispensing opticians, and support staff who work together to provide a wide range of clinical services.
Our practices offer:
* Test times between 30-40 minutes
Comprehensive eye examinations using OCT and Optomap
Myopia management and children’s eye care
Visual stress assessments and colorimetry
Dry eye and red eye clinics

We’re also an accredited provider of NHS eye care services, including community-based eye health support. We are privileged to work with a variety of patients from a wide range of backgrounds.
About the Role
This is a part-time position across 3 or 4 days per week, ideally including an alternate Saturday. You’ll have the time and clinical tools to offer each patient a thorough and tailored experience, supported by a knowledgeable and friendly team. We’re looking for someone who shares our patient-first approach and is confident in both their clinical and communication skills.
Support for Your Development
We’re passionate about continuous development and are happy to support further training — particularly in Independent Prescribing, Glaucoma management and more. Our wider team already includes professionals with enhanced skills, so you’ll be part of an environment where learning is actively encouraged and supported.
What We’re Looking For
GOC-registered Optometrist
Strong clinical knowledge with a keen interest in continued development
Someone who values the patient journey and wants to work as part of a collaborative team
Previous experience in independent practice is welcomed, but not essential
