Job Summary
Band 3 Health Care Assistant – Kestrel Ward, North Wales Adolescent Service, Abergele. Inpatient CAMHS setting, caring for young people 11‑17. Provide day‑to‑day care, escort patients to appointments, support community reintegration and work 24/7 shift patterns including nights.
Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day care for patients under the supervision of a registered nurse.
* Work autonomously within a framework agreed by the Service Manager/Ward Manager.
* Escort patients to trips, appointments, home leave and other outings.
* Assist with mobility, lifting and other manual tasks as required.
* Support patients and families in a collaborative, empathetic manner.
Qualifications – Essential
* Level 3 qualification in a health‑care related subject or equivalent experience and evidence of work‑based competency.
* Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and the All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
* Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures, including safeguarding principals and GDPR.
* Ability to complete certified or accredited physical intervention training (e.g. PMVA).
Qualifications – Desirable
* Certified or accredited physical intervention training.
* Welsh language skills (levels 1–5 in understanding, speaking, reading and writing).
Experience – Essential
* Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment, providing direct patient care.
Experience – Desirable
* Experience working with patient groups relevant to the area of practice.
* Experience working within the NHS.

* Good communication skills – verbal, non‑verbal and written.
* Ability to work with minimum supervision to a high standard.
* Ability to keep calm in stressful situations.
* Demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach.
* Organisational skills, planning and prioritising workload efficiently.
* Tech proficiency – Microsoft Office, virtual platforms such as Teams.
* Physically able to carry out duties, including lifting and mobility assistance.

* Welsh language skills (levels 1–5).
Other Requirements
Ability to work a range of shift patterns, including night shifts.

Salary and Contract
£26,300 to £27,890 per annum, permanent contract, full‑time.
