Job Opportunity: People Operations & Workforce Planning Business Partner Location: Newforge Lane Hours: 37 per week Pay Rate: £34,524 per annum About the Role The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) is seeking an experienced People Operations & Workforce Planning Business Partner to play a key role in supporting our organisational success. You'll take ownership of day-to-day workforce planning, oversee people operations, and work closely with stakeholders, HRConnect, and trade union partners to ensure AFBI remains a high-performing and supportive workplace. What You'll Do In this role, you will: Lead and support workforce planning processes with AFBI stakeholders and HRConnect. Manage the agency worker framework to secure timely cover for positions. Advise on People & Culture matters, ensuring policies and procedures are upheld. Conduct meetings relating to underperformance, conduct, and attendance reviews. Provide accurate monthly reports and maintain detailed records for management. Carry out monthly internal audits and secure independent sign-off. Coach and mentor HR team members, promoting continuous improvement. Build strong, positive working relationships across AFBI. Ensure confidentiality and duty of care at all times. Essential Criteria To be considered, you must have: A Level 5 qualification (e.g. HND, DipHE, Foundation Degree, Level 5 NVQ or equivalent). Associate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). At least 2 years' experience in a workforce planning role with hands-on People & Culture processes (e.g. recruitment, absence management, grievance & disciplinary, bullying & harassment). Strong record-keeping skills for management reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word (including pivot tables). Access to transport to fulfil the role's duties. Why Join Us?
