We are seeking an experienced Website Project Manager (Digital Project Manager) who has successfully delivered complex website transformations and brings both commercial awareness and a passion for environmental purpose.Offered as a 12‑month contract, this role isfor someone who can confidently lead a multi‑phase digital programme and help take the organisation on that journey.
Reporting to the Head of Communications & Engagement, you will lead the planning,architectureand phased roll‑out of our new website.You’llcoordinate closely with communications, marketing, stakeholderengagementand IT teams to shape a site that reflects our ambitions and serves diverse audiences - from funders, government and partners to the public,collaboratorsand future talent.
You will chair and guide a projectworking group, build insight-driven decisions, andmaintainclear timelines, deliveryroadmapsand resource plans.You’llalso collaborate with external UX, SEO and GEO specialists to optimise user journeys, embed data-driven performance monitoring, and ensure the site meets accessibility standards.
Working alongside the Head of Communications & Engagement, you will also help build an internal employee website transition group to support organisation-wide engagement with this transformation.This role will play a central part inestablishinggovernance for the new website, including content lifecycle management, publishingworkflowsand digital accessibility compliance.
Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Lead the planning and delivery of UKCEH’s new website - creating a platform that truly serves our users andshowcasesthe impact of our science.
2. Drive a phased roll‑out of a new website architecture, ensuring each stage lands smoothly and adds meaningful value.
3. Create and manage clear project roadmaps,timelinesand resourcing, keeping the whole programme on track and moving forward with pace.
4. Work collaboratively with communications,marketingand stakeholder engagement teamsto ensure the site reflects real user needs and organisational priorities.
5. Partner closely with our IT teamto deliver a technically robust,scalableand future‑ready platform.
6. Align the website with commercial services, partnerships and fundraising, enabling stronger engagement and new opportunities.
7. Build an internal employeewebsitetransitiongroup(with the Head of Communications & Engagement) to bring colleagues on the journey and enhance adoption.
8. Collaborate with external UX and SEO/GEO specialiststo create intuitive, insight‑driven user journeys for a wide range of audiences.
9. Embed data‑driven performance monitoringto continually refine and improve the site.
10. Ensure the website meets accessibility standards, enabling inclusive access for all users.
11. Establish strong governanceacross content lifecycle management, publishingworkflowsand digital accessibility compliance.

For the role ofWebsite Project Manager,we’relooking for somebody who has:
12. Robust project management skills, with confidence in planning,phasingand driving delivery.
13. Proven success leading full website transformations within complexorganisations.
14. Experiencedelivering websites that support science communications, commercial services, digital marketing, public engagement / citizen science.
15. Experience in scientific, research‑drivenor technical environments, ideally with private and NGO sector experience, bringing both commercial thinking and collaborative ways of working.
16. Ability to navigate diverse stakeholder groups and balance organisational, commercial and user needs.
17. A workingknowledgeofUX, SEO and content strategy, shaping user journeys for varied audiences.
18. Experience collaborating with IT teams,developersand external agencies to deliver complex digital solutions.
19. Data‑driven decision‑making, using analytics to optimise performance.
20. Experience with CMS platforms such as Drupal.
21. Knowledge of integrating websites with wider digital systems, including Research Information Systems (e.g. Pure)andCRM tools (e.g. HubSpot).
22. Flexibility and willingness to travel to Wallingfordheadquartersperiodicallyfor key meetings.
