Mechanical Project Engineer - Building Services£300 - £350 per day (PAYE or Umbrella) | Derby | 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday | Public Sector | Start ASAP
Your new companyWe are working on behalf of a respected public sector organisation based in Derby, seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join their Property Design & Maintenance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality building services across a diverse estate, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficiency in all mechanical engineering projects.
Your new roleAs Mechanical Project Engineer, you will act as the Council's technical specialist in mechanical building services engineering. You'll manage a wide range of construction and maintenance projects, including new builds, refurbishments, adaptations, and compliance works. Your responsibilities will include overseeing mechanical systems such as heating, water services, air conditioning, and lifts, ensuring all works meet statutory and quality standards. You'll also lead on project planning, budget management, procurement, and contractor performance, while ensuring compliance with ISO 55000, CDM regulations, and other relevant legislation.
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will need:
* A degree in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
* Extensive experience in mechanical engineering within construction and maintenance.
* Proven leadership in delivering complex projects across a range of building types.
* Strong knowledge of British Standards, ISO 55000, and CDM 2015 regulations.
* Experience in contract management, procurement, and compliance auditing.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. MIET, MCIBSE, MIMECH) is desirable.
* A recognised qualification in CDM regulations is also advantageous.
