Who are Compassa?

Compassa is a premium NEBOSH and IOSH online learning partner. We’ve grown rapidly because we don't just \"tick boxes\". It's because we focus on course quality and pass rates, and not exclusively on our sales. We provide a level of support and exam insight that is rare in this industry. Since launching our first course in 2020, we have become known as one of the premier NEBOSH Learning Partners in the world, with some of the highest pass rates available, making use of award-winning and innovative course design techniques. Over the last two years, our student numbers have grown by 70% and continue to increase. And we have a number of courses in our development pipeline.

To keep that momentum going, I am looking for a Lead Tutor to join the team. This is a senior role designed for someone who knows the NEBOSH assessments inside out and wants to be part of a high-growth, pioneering, industry-revolutionising business. You'll be a trusted tag team partner. You'll be Robin to Batman. Chewbacca to Han Solo. Sally to Harry... OK, definitely not that last one. But you get the idea.

The Role

I’ll be direct: a large part of this job is repetitive. Grading can be relentless. You will spend 1 to 3 hours most mornings climbing a \"mountain\" of mock exams and assignments, marking the same questions for different learners. We need someone who doesn't mind that grind because they understand how critical that feedback is to a learner’s success. Your marking will need to be accurate, fair, and fast. And your feedback must be personalised, helpful, direct, and encouraging. You're no Ron Burgundy or Basil Fawlty.

When you aren't marking, you’ll be:

* Answering Technical and Customer Queries: Providing expert-level support via email and phone. You’ll also provide occasional cover for our main phone line and live chat—we’re a small, agile team, so we all muck in when the \"Bat-phone\" rings.
* Course Development: Reviewing and refining our materials to ensure they are the best in the market and have all the information people need to pass the assessments.
* Closing Interviews: Handling the interview process for NEBOSH learners.
* Hosting Webinars: Presenting engaging, live sessions for our learners. You need to be comfortable and charismatic on camera, and know how to multi-task on a Zoom call, creating a virtual experience that kills off \"Death by PowerPoint\" for good. We’re looking for that Derren Brown level of engagement, the ability to captivate a virtual room so completely that the knowledge actually sticks. Whatever it takes to get those pass rates up (within the rules, obviously).
* Compliance and Record Keeping: Not the most exciting part of the role. But you’ll help us stay bulletproof by maintaining malpractice records, keeping detailed course changelogs, conducting course reviews, and taking a lead role in awarding body audits.
* Essential Admin: Handling the necessary paperwork that keeps the business moving, such as logging exam results and ensuring our student records are flawless. Even extraordinary NEBOSH tutors like you have to do a bit of admin.

What You Must Bring

This is a premium role with a salary to match, so our requirements are high:

* Current or Former NEBOSH Examiner Status: This is a MUST. You need that deep, current understanding of how exams are marked and what NEBOSH is looking for. Being a current GNC1/GIC1 examiner would be a significant advantage to your application.
* Communication: Your spoken and written English must be excellent. We are a premium brand; our communication needs to reflect that. When you talk, not only can people of all nationalities understand you, but you grab their attention.
* Engagement: You aren't just a marker; you’re a teacher. Some students will even think of you as a mentor to look up to. You need to be able to deliver a webinar in a way that actually keeps people awake and interested.
* Reliability: You’ll be working remotely, so we need someone disciplined enough to manage a high volume of work without being chased. You'll be taking ownership of the day-to-day management and delivery of our IOSH and NEBOSH courses. I love these courses as much as my own children, so I’m looking for the equivalent of Mrs. Doubtfire: someone who can step in, keep the house in perfect order, and look after my 'kids' better than I can. (Though hopefully with fewer drive-by \"fruitings\").
* IT Skills: you'll be able to type as fast as Bruce Almighty. Well... Maybe not that fast. But you will know as a minimum your way around a laptop, how to use the internet, email, Zoom, calendars and you will be fluid and fast in doing so. You cannot keep up with the marking if it takes you 5 minutes to click a button and type a sentence. Experience of software like Moodle, H5P, Monday.com is highly desirable.
* A Commitment to Excellence in Service: You take pride in meeting (and beating) marking turnaround times, ensuring our learners are never left waiting for the feedback they need to progress. You're the kind of person who hates receiving an automated reply saying \"We will get back to you in 5 working days\" and you strive to be better than that out of love and respect for yourself and learners.
* Strategic Thinker with Initiative: You don't just mark the work; you look for trends. If you see 10 learners failing the same exam question, you’re the person who tells me: 'Will, we need to rewrite this module, it’s not landing'. And then you crack on and do it. And relish seeing the improvement in our learner's performance.
* Fun: whilst we take our pass rates and course design super seriously, we do not take things too seriously. Our courses are renowned for being fun and humorous, with a cheeky and provocative edge. You will have a personality which fits in with our irreverent style.
* And yet... You will help keep us Compliant: You’re not a Jack Sparrow (far too reckless). You’re more of a Hermione Granger. You’re adventurous, brave, happy to go along with Harry's crazy ideas, and sometimes you're even fun to be around. But you are also sound, super nerdy when it comes to NEBOSH, and you’ve actually read the rules. Despite your sense of humour and adventure, you will keep us within the strict regulatory boundaries imposed on us by our awarding bodies and the powers that be. Maintaining our positive reputation with our partners is an absolute must for our ongoing success and for the success of our learners.

Qualifications & Professional Standing

This is a senior role, and our learners expect to be taught by the best. To be considered, you should hold:

* NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma (or an equivalent such as NCRQ Diploma, NVQ6, or IOSH Level 6 Diploma).
* Level 3 Award in Education and Training (minimum).
* CertIOSH status or equivalent (minimum), though CMIOSH/CFIOSH/FIIRSM or equivalent is highly desirable and would be a significant advantage.

The Experience You Bring

* NEBOSH Examiner experience: You are a current or former NEBOSH examiner. Ideally, you are a current GNC1/GIC1 examiner. You should be a self-professed \"NEBOSH nerd\", someone who knows the syllabus inside out and understands the nuances that make the difference between a referral and a distinction.
* Training Experience: You have demonstrable experience (typically 5+ years) delivering IOSH and NEBOSH courses (including IOSH Managing Safely and the NEBOSH General Certificate). You know how to take complex theories and make them make sense to a room full of people. Preferably using your extensive knowledge base of movie quotes and pop culture references.
* Real-World H&S Management: You have extensive experience (typically 5+ years) managing health and safety across various industries. We don’t want \"textbook\" tutors; we want someone with a few war stories to tell that bring the theory to life.

Why Compassa?

* Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience and skill-set).
* Profit Share Scheme: After 6 months' service you will qualify for quarterly profit-based bonuses.
* Enhanced Pension: A market-leading 10% employer contribution (on qualifying earnings, after 6 months' service).
* Flexibility: 100% Remote. No more \"trainer life\" spent in hotels or driving across the country. Occasional travel to the Head Office in Hull will be required for meetings, training, and team events.
* Holidays: 25 days holiday + bank holidays
* Sick Pay Scheme

How to Apply

We want to hear from you if:

* You are a high-level NEBOSH professional with examiner experience who is tired of the classroom but still loves that \"lightbulb moment\" for learners.
* Or, you’re currently an online tutor who is frustrated by low-quality courses and you're ready to work with a provider that actually cares about their learners.
