Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Clinical Trials Assistant working predominantly within our busy and growing Gastroenterology Research portfolio and supporting research in other clinical specialities as required.
Working with experienced Research Midwives, Research Nurses and Clinicians, you will contribute towards the safe conduct of approved research studies in our hospitals. This post will primarily be based at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, but the successful candidate may also be expected to work at Calderdale Royal Hospital as required.
The post requires you to work autonomously and as part of a research multi-disciplinary team (MDT). You will be required to support studies under supervision of Research Midwives/Nurses or Allied Health Professionals.
The successful candidate will work with specialist consultants and clinical trial units. There is the potential for the successful candidate to utilise and develop existing clinical skills to support the Research Midwives/Nurses such as phlebotomy and vital signs collection. The role also has a significant administrative element and a requirement to be IT proficient and able to accurately capture research data from patients and their medical records. A full induction and training will be provided.

Responsibilities
* Support the Research Team to increase patient recruitment into clinical trials.
* Promote the development of commercial research and contribute to high quality research.
* Interact with patients & families in relation to the requirements of clinical trials and be able to work without supervision in some areas.
* Responsible for research data capture and entry into electronic case report forms.
* Assist with the set‑up of new trials, maintain study paper and electronic site files/documentation, process protocol amendments and ensure accurate documentation.
* Identify patients via MDT screening notes, receive consent, recruit participants to research studies and support & monitor research patients.
* Lead an observational/genetic study following appropriate training & mentorship.

The CHFT currently offer a Monday to Friday 9‑5 service, however there may be a requirement for 7 day working in future.
