Overview
This is an exciting time to join Child Friendly Dudley. Our Children's Services puts children first and at the heart of all we do, bringing multi-disciplinary teams together in our Family Safeguarding model, and using restorative, strengths-based approaches to work with families and their networks to achieve better outcomes.
We are looking for passionate, dedicated, and determined newly qualified Social Workers to join our Children's Services. We offer a robust Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE) to support our newly qualified Social Workers to develop their professional capability and confidence. There is a focus upon quality, not quantity. Your voice as a newly qualified Social Worker is central to the programme, with a range of opportunities for you to share your thoughts and provide feedback about your experiences. There are also clearly defined standards in relation to workload allocation, supervision, protected development time, and support within the organisation.
As a newly qualified Social Worker, you will receive focussed support from your dedicated ASYE Assessor at the Centre for Professional Practice. Your Assessor will support you to develop your Professional Development Plan, and review progress with you at planned points through the year.
The Programme includes
* A robust Induction with service-wide shadowing experiences, delivery of an ASYE Masterclass Programme, and clear guidance relating to support relating to health, wellbeing, and inclusion in the organisation.
* Planned review points through the year at three, six, nine, and twelve months.
* A comprehensive learning and development programme, aligned with the Child and Family Post Qualifying Standards.
* Clear arrangements in relation to supervision, workload allocation, and protected development time.
In addition to the ASYE programme, Dudley offers a wide package of benefits and support, including:
* A range of flexible working options, including flexi-time and home-working, dependant on service requirements;
* A generous holiday allowance and special leave provisions;
* Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme;
* A comprehensive staff wellbeing programme;
* A clear Career Pathway that moves from the ASYE Programme through to Advanced Practitioner positions and management roles;
* Training in core areas of practice to support family-led decision-making and relationship-based practice;
* Regular Staff Briefings, opening communication between senior leaders and frontline staff, Practice Weeks, and Staff Engagement Forums which celebrate good practice.
This is a newly qualified Social Worker role, with a starting salary of Grade 8, £34,314. Upon successful completion of the programme, you will progress to Grade 9, with a starting salary of £37,983, with an additional £7000 Market Forces Supplement if based in a Family Safeguarding or Adolescent Safeguarding Team.
Interviews will take place at Cable Plaza, Waterfront Way, Brierley Hill, DY5 ILW, week commencing 20th October 2025.
