Thispost offers the successful applicant the exciting opportunity to join theSpecialist Palliative Care team. We are looking for someone who isenthusiastic, confident, methodical and able to work in a calm and professionalmanner whilst delivering excellent customer service.
Thesuccessful applicant will provide effective and confidential administrativesupport on a day-to-day basis to ensure the needs of the clinical team arefully met, working within demanding time constraints, prioritising ownworkload, working with minimal supervision, demonstrating the ability to useinitiative and striving to make constant improvements to the service. The postholder will need to be proactive, flexible and responsive to the changing needsand demands of the organisation in order to support the smooth running of theclinical services.
Main duties of the job
Dealwith telephone enquiries, taking and conveying messages appropriately.
Make appointments and, givenon-clinical advice as directed, taking necessary action for calls to behandled as quickly and efficiently as possible
Maintain an up to datefiling and archive filing system, disposing of archived patient recordsaccording to Trust Policy
Support the efficientorganisation of home visits
Receive and handleinformation regarding referrals to the service and deal with them within Trustor Departmental timescales
Enter data onto necessarydatabases according to service requirements.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

1. Good standard of Education-minimum of 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at C grade or above including English Language.
2. NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent knowledge/experience (or working towards).
Special Skills and Knowledge

3. Knowledge of computer packages Word, Excel, Outlook and PPT.
4. IT Skills.
5. Ability to analyse and present data using Excel and Access packages.
6. Ability to use email and maintain and update paper and electronic diaries.
7. Knowledge of Data protection and Caldicott principles and undertsanding of the need to maintain strict confidentiality.
8. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
9. Good interpersonal skills.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deal with and prepare routine verbal and written correspondence and the ability to obtain information and pass on comprehensive and confidential messages.
