An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Nurse to join our established nursing leadership team within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Medical Same Day Emergency Care (MSDEC). We are seeking a proactive and supportive nurse leader with proven clinical leadership and decision‑making skills, who thrives in a fast‑paced acute environment and is passionate about delivering high‑quality, safe and effective care. The role requires expert knowledge of acute medicine, patient flow, capacity management and workforce leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strong, visible clinical and professional leadership within AMU and MSDEC, supporting staff in the delivery of high‑quality, safe and effective patient care.
* Be professionally accountable for the standards, quality and delivery of nursing care within your area of responsibility.
* Support, teach and develop nursing staff, promoting a positive learning culture and ensuring excellence in clinical practice.
* Demonstrate expert clinical knowledge in acute medicine, including patient flow, capacity and escalation management.
* Safely receive and manage medical referrals from the Emergency Department and oversee the effective coordination of the medical take team.
* Actively contribute to decision‑making processes that impact patient flow, operational pressures and service delivery across the unit.
* Ensure high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention and control within the clinical area.
* Act as the named budget holder and authorised signatory, ensuring responsible management of financial resources.
* Maintain responsibility for information governance within the ward/department, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely submission of data.
* Work collaboratively with senior nurses, medical staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to support service improvement and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience
* Band 7 Nurse with proven clinical leadership and decision‑making skills.
* Expert knowledge of acute medicine, patient flow, capacity and escalation management.
* Experience in workforce leadership and managing multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong understanding of budget management and financial accountability.
