Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Deputy Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in children's residential settings and be qualified in the relevant Level 3 qualification or higher. You must have a passion for providing exceptional care to our young people and have experience in improving outcomes. This role involves supporting the management of daily operations, ensuring high standards of care, and leading a team of care staff in delivering personalized support to individuals with varying needs, including Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties.

Responsibilities

* Manage the residential home on a day-to-day basis ensuring it is compliant in meeting all relevant legislative and contractual requirements, including the health and educational needs of young people.
* To deputize in the absence of the home manager
* Liaise with other departments and external agencies to ensure that the young people receive appropriate plans, programmes, and support in the home to aid their rehabilitation into the community and to meet contractual requirements
* Coach, support and develop staff, including supervision, to maximise their performance and ensure high standards of care, values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures, legislation and contractual and inspection framework requirements are met
* Assist in budget preparation and manage and control budgets to meet financial parameter
* Interpret and implement changes in legislation relating to occupancy to ensure any enhanced requirements are met
* Identify resourcing needs and the ongoing selection, training, and development of staff to ensure service delivery is optimised and relevant standards are met.
* Engender a positive health and safety culture to meet and maintain company and external accreditation standards
* To ensure the protection and safeguarding of the young people in our care
* To address the needs of the young people according to their individual care plans
* Demonstrate to the young people the value of education, care, and development to achieve better outcomes
* Build and create mutual trust and respect with young people in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and advice
* Define structures and boundaries of behaviour to young people, acting as a positive role model, so they understand daily routines expected
* Produce, maintain, and distribute house paperwork to ensure relevant information is recorded accurately and is available
* Monitor and analyse the young people's behaviour to encourage them to participate in a positive structured routine
* Create and produce activities to occupy and develop young people in order that they gain life skills and education on an informed basis
* Maintain knowledge of and apply the relevant legislative, regulative standards against inspection framework requirements
* Provide advice and skills to young people on managing their finances and other everyday life skills
* To support the healthcare needs of the young people and encourage and attend appointments as required to include the administration of medication and where required first aid
* To ensure that young people are transported safely in company vehicles and be aware of young people's risk assessments and company's policies and procedures
* To ensure and promote the cleanliness of the home's environment and maintain standards.
* To promote the homes effective Health and Safety management by way of completing daily Health and Safety audits
* Where necessary, identify and challenge negative behaviours in an appropriate and constructive manner
* Able to form and maintain and encourage good working relationships and effective work practices as part of theme.
* Must represent, engage and collaborate positively with parents, careers, other agencies and professionals to ensure that the best interests of the young people are supported and respected at all times.
* Deliver one to one support discussions with young people
* Complete regular key work sessions with young people in line with their care plans.
* Attend and lead in staff meetings where required.
* Complete sleep-in duties where required as part of rota
* Must be committed to undertake regular job-related training.
* Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent and have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.
* Must be able to carry out all duties in line with company policies and procedures.
* To complete additional tasks and duties requested by your line manager that are reasonable within your role of an Deputy Manager

Experience

* A professional social work qualification, QCF level 3 or working towards QCF level 5.
* Managerial experience within a similar environment (at least 1 year supervisory in care setting)
* 2 year's residential care experience.
* Full UK driving license

* Leading People – Must be able to organise, delegate and ensure the completion of the team's responsibilities
* Delivering Performance – Must have high expectations of service users and is committed in maintaining and ensuring the highest level of care is provided at all times and that this reflects the needs of the varying young people
* Managing Professionally - Must have strong leadership and team working skills and the ability to make decisions
* Financial budgeting
* Understanding of Equal Opportunities and Anti discriminatory practice
* Understanding of the Children's Act 1989 and 2004 and Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £37,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
