SEMH Support Officer
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEMH Support Officer to join our secondary school team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting the wellbeing, emotional resilience, and mental health of young people.
You will work closely with students who are experiencing social, emotional, or mental health challenges, helping them to access learning, build positive relationships, and achieve personal and academic goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs
2. Implement strategies to improve emotional regulation, resilience, and coping skills
3. Support students in developing positive relationships, social skills, and self-esteem
4. Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and external agencies to monitor and support student wellbeing
5. Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions
6. Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment
Requirements
7. Experience working with secondary-aged students with SEMH needs
8. Understanding of mental health strategies, trauma-informed practice, and safeguarding
9. Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
11. Commitment to promoting student wellbeing and safeguarding
