Job Overview
Applications are invited for a full‑time, permanent Lecturer in Education (Teaching & Scholarship) at the North Wales School of Education, Bangor University. The role is full‑time (14 academic hours per week) with the option to work partially or part‑time via job share. The position is based on campus at Bangor, with some flexible remote work as per the Dynamic Working framework.
Purpose of the Job
The role holder will support delivery of core curriculum and contribute to future development and innovation of the programme, including advances in teaching and research excellence within education.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide quality, engaging teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
* Offer pastoral and academic support to students, including supervision of projects.
* Strengthen links between education research and the local community and within the HEI‑schools partnership.
* Engage with Welsh Government and other organisations on education matters.
* Contribute to marketing of programmes through link activities and other initiatives.
* Undertake other administrative duties as directed by the Head of School.
Teaching Duties
* Record teaching excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
* Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures and tutorials, responding to diverse student backgrounds.
* Design, develop, and deliver teaching materials across modules.
* Contribute to teaching and assessment across the School’s portfolio of modules.
* Motivate student engagement and provide constructive feedback promptly.
* Stay abreast of new professional, educational, and related developments.
* Provide a supportive learning environment and act as personal tutor.
* Participate in Quality Enhancement procedures and supervise students during School Experience.
* Take full responsibility for student assessment against academic and professional standards.
* Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
* Assist in development of new programmes and serve as module coordinator or contributor to co‑ordination.
Administrative and Wider Contribution Duties
* Participate in student recruitment and induction procedures.
* Promote the external profile of the School.
* Assist in programme administration (exam organisation, accreditation/QA, etc.).
* Maintain accurate records and support committee structures.
* Contribute to school boards and task groups, supporting student experience.
* Other administrative duties as directed by the Head of School.

* Participate in performance review and developmental activities.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* Postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area, or PhD/EdD, or close to completion.
* Qualified Teacher Status.
Desirable
* PGCERT or HEA Fellowship.
Teaching Skills
* Experience of teaching at higher education level or in the UK school sector with evidence of successful outcomes.
* Experience of module/curriculum development and delivery.
* Awareness of current developments in education and teacher education.
* Recent coaching/mentoring experience.
* Awareness of issues relating to teaching in a bilingual environment.
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
Skills and Abilities
* Effective teamwork and initiative.
* Prioritisation of workload and ability to meet deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication.
* Commitment to pastoral care and student experience.
* Demonstrable computer skills and proficiency with learning resource software such as Blackboard.
Other Essential
* Ability to communicate fluently, deliver lectures and assess students’ work in Welsh.
* Ability to travel to partnership locations and national events.
* Subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.
