English Teacher – Halifax (HX2). Monday to Friday. Full-time.
Role
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated English Teacher to work with pupils who have social, emotional, and mental health needs. The successful candidate will deliver engaging English lessons while supporting pupils’ behaviour, wellbeing, and personal development. You will work closely with support staff and pastoral teams to ensure pupils feel safe, supported, and able to access learning.
About the Role
The role involves teaching pupils from KS1 to KS5, adapting lessons to meet individual needs and supporting pupils with challenging behaviour. The setting focuses on clear boundaries, positive relationships, and restorative approaches to behaviour, helping pupils re-engage with learning and make progress.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver English lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with SEND and SEMH
* Differentiate learning to support a range of abilities and learning styles
* Support pupils’ literacy development, confidence, and engagement with learning
* Manage behaviour positively, using clear structure and consistent expectations
* Work closely with Teaching Assistants and pastoral staff in the classroom
* Monitor and record pupil progress and attainment
* Build strong, respectful relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
* Contribute to a supportive and nurturing learning environment
Requirements
* Experience teaching English, ideally within a SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision setting
* A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management
* A strong commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs
* Ability to adapt teaching styles and use creative approaches to engage learners
