Job summary
Band 5 Physiotherapist are responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred physiotherapy services across multiple clinical settings within the Trust. These posts are offered on fixed-term basis to cover for maternity leave of variable durations, providing flexible workforce support while maintaining consistent standards of care.
Working trust across 3 sites under the guidance of senior Physiotherapists and reporting to the Therapy Team Leader and Service Lead for Therapies, the post holder contributes to safe, effective, and evidence-based physiotherapy services for the local population served by Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, as well as for patients accessing regional specialist services.
As part of the rotational programme, there is the opportunity to work in a broad range of specialties, including general outpatients, hands and plastics, orthopaedics, medical and surgical wards, specialist rehabilitation, paediatrics, critical care, stroke and neurology, respiratory services, spinal injuries, burns, and care of the elderly.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy care as an autonomous practitioner within a rotational framework across Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Clinically, the role involves undertaking comprehensive assessments of patients with a wide range of conditions, including complex and multi-pathology presentations, to formulate accurate diagnoses and deliver individualised treatment programmes.
The post holder manages their own caseload independently within defined competencies, accessing senior support where required. Responsibilities include developing and progressing treatment plans, selecting and applying appropriate therapeutic interventions, evaluating patient outcomes, managing clinical risk, and contributing to effective discharge planning.
The post holder represents physiotherapy within multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care.
The role includes participation in a 7-day working pattern, contributing to weekend services to support timely rehabilitation and discharge.
The post holder is also required to participate in the respiratory emergency evening on-call rota, responding to urgent referrals and providing acute physiotherapy input as required.
Professionally, the physiotherapist is legally accountable for their practice, maintains accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation in line with CSP and Trust standards, and ensures safe and competent use of physiotherapy equipment.
