LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT
Contract term: Permanent. Immediate Start. Contract type - Part time 18.5 hours per week (2 days at 8.30am - 4pm, 1 day 9am - 3pm), 39 weeks per year (Term time plus inset days). Salary: Scale 3 Point 5 - 6 - Actual Salary: £11414 - £11743 (including fringe allowance).
We have the exciting opportunity for a personable and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team here at Roding Valley High School. We are looking for a member of staff to work with students to develop their knowledge and understanding both inside and outside the classroom and lead on some evidence-based interventions.
Key Responsibilities
* Build strong, positive relationships with the students you support.
* Deliver planned learning activities and teaching programs, adapting them to meet students' needs as you go.
* Communicate effectively with other staff, sharing relevant information about students to ensure a consistent approach.
* Help maintain a positive and focused learning environment by promoting and reinforcing school behavior policies.
* Prepare and manage learning resources for lessons and activities, working under the SENCo’s/Teacher’s guidance.
* Encouraging and enabling students to become more independent learners.
* Work one-on-one or in a small group, supporting children with their education, behavioural and social development; delivering high-quality, evidence-based interventions under the supervision of the SENCo/ Deputy SENCo.
* To support students effectively in the classroom, create a safe and inclusive environment.
* Implement scaffolding by providing temporary, step-by-step support like writing frames and prompts, and use explicit instruction with clear examples and modeling.
* A specialism in English or Maths would be desirable.
