Cleaning Supervisor – Band 3 Facility Services and Sustainability
Salary Range: £24,685.00 - £26,093.00
Working Hours: 05:30–11:30, Saturday and Sunday
Contract Type: Continuing (Permanent, Part‑Time)
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Cleaning Supervisor to join our Facility Services and Sustainability team. This is a working supervisory role, responsible for overseeing a team of weekend cleaners while also undertaking cleaning duties alongside the team. The successful candidate will ensure that all assigned areas are cleaned to a high standard and in line with University policies, contributing to a clean, safe and welcoming campus environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day supervision and basic line management of weekend cleaning staff.
* Ensure cleaning tasks are completed to agreed standards and within required timescales.
* Support and participate in cleaning duties as part of the working team.
* Oversee team deployment and manage workloads across designated areas.
* Manage and record staff holidays, initial sickness reporting and documentation.
* Review and record overtime requests in accordance with University procedures.
* Maintain good communication within the cleaning team and with wider Facility Services colleagues.
* Promote safe working practices and adherence to health and safety guidelines.
Essential
* Experience in cleaning within a commercial, institutional or similar environment.
* Ability to supervise, motivate and support a team.
* Good communication and organisational skills.
* A proactive, hands‑on approach to work.
Desirable
* Previous supervisory or team leader experience.
* Knowledge of health and safety practices related to cleaning operations.
