To assess and support people with common mental health problems in the self-management of their recovery.
1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
2. Undertake patient-centred interviews to identify areas where the person wishes to see change or recovery, and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
3. Make decisions on the suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department's referral protocols, referring unsuitable clients to relevant services or back to the referral agent, or stepping up the person's treatment to high-intensity psychological therapy.
4. Provide a range of information and support for evidence-based high-volume low-intensity psychological treatments, including guided self-help, computerised CBT, and information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face-to-face, via telephone, or other media.
5. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment, as necessary.
6. Adhere to an activity contract relating to the number of client contacts and clinical sessions per week to minimise waiting times and ensure accessible treatment delivery.
7. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings related to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
8. Complete all data collection requirements within the service.
9. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity following service protocols and use these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision-making.
