Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service Firefighter (Control) Inter-Service Transfer Vacancy - Permanent
Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service is seeking applications from existing Firefighter (Control) personnel who are competent or in development for a Firefighter (Control) vacancy within our Fire Control. Inter-service transferees from other fire and rescue services are welcome and will complete conversion training to ensure familiarity with the NFRS Mobilising System and processes.
The successful candidate will promote and maintain positive relationships with all employees and their trade unions to develop a climate of harmonious and constructive employee relations. Our Fire Control Mobilising and Communications Centre handles the receipt of emergency calls and the alerting and dispatching of Fire & Rescue Service resources, based at our Headquarters in West Hartford Community Fire Station.
The Fire Control is responsible for:
* The acceptance of emergency and non-emergency calls from a range of sources.
* Mobilising resources in accordance with our CRMP.
* Maintaining communication with resources.
* Maintaining information on operational resources and daily staffing.
* Liaising with other emergency and non-emergency agencies.
* Providing Survival Guidance Advice to callers (fires and special service calls).
* Management of risk data in mobilising systems, performance management, and in-house training for control staff.
The Firefighter (Control) vacancy is permanent, working 42 hours on a watch-based rota, subject to NJC Grey Book Conditions of Service. Further details can be found in the accompanying role map.
Current salary: £27,970 (Firefighter Control Development) and £35,791 (Firefighter Control Competent).
Essential criteria
Eligibility: You must be a competent or development Firefighter (Control), currently employed in a UK Fire and Rescue Service. No outstanding unspent disciplinary warnings.
Selection process: The selection process will be undertaken in accordance with workforce and succession planning requirements. Applications will be reviewed against the UK FRS National Occupational Standards (NOS). If eligible, you will progress to the next stage.
Our selection process will comprise: An assessment day consisting of a group discussion and formal interview. Assessment days will take place at Fire Service Headquarters, West Hartford Business Park, Cramlington.
