Specialist Child and Family Support Worker Children’s Services – Safeguarding & Services to Children and Young People Specialist Support Services We are recruiting a Specialist Child and Family Support Worker to join a dedicated Children and Families Support Team, working with children and families where there is risk of family breakdown and safeguarding concerns. This is a rewarding, hands-on role for someone who is passionate about keeping children safe, strengthening families, and working collaboratively with professionals to achieve positive outcomes. The Role You will work directly with children, parents, carers, and wider family networks as part of assessments, plans, and reviews. The role involves supporting families through challenging periods, supervising contact, and helping children remain safely at home or return home where appropriate. Key responsibilities include: Undertaking direct work with children and families as part of agreed plans Supervising family contact during assessments, plans, and reviews Supporting and empowering parents and carers to meet their children’s needs Working with families at high risk of breakdown to promote stability and safety Supporting safeguarding through assessment, planning, and review processes Helping children return home safely when appropriate Working closely with Social Workers and as part of a Team Around the Family approach Liaising with partner agencies including health, education, and other professionals Maintaining accurate written records and producing reports in line with safeguarding procedures Working flexibly to meet the needs of children and families, including evenings and weekends Providing transport for children where required and agreed by the Line Manager What We’re Looking For This role would suit someone who: Has experience working directly with children and families in a safeguarding context Is confident supervising contact and managing complex family dynamics Understands child protection, safeguarding, and family support planning Can work flexibly and independently while being part of a wider professional team Communicates well with families and multi-agency professionals Is committed to equality, dignity, and respect for all service users Why Apply?
