We are looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, covering Essex and London, with our Head Office based in Chelmsford providing full support, coordination, and technical backup to ensure consistently high levels of service. The role: As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing, and maintaining generators and diesel-powered equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our fleet and client equipment. Reporting to the Service Manager, the main purpose of the role is to service, diagnose, and repair generator systems in line with company and manufacturer standards. Job Responsibilities: • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, scheduled servicing, and inspections on generators and diesel-powered equipment • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and fault-finding equipment • Repair or replace faulty components, including fuel systems, brakes, transmissions, and engine components where required • Conduct inspections to ensure equipment meets safety and regulatory standards • Carry out repairs efficiently to minimise downtime for clients • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, servicing, and repairs performed • Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and maintain high service standards • Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues regarding repairs and maintenance requirements • Respond to breakdowns and emergency callouts when required • Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures and company standards • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition • Follow manufacturer and company service procedures • Any other duties as required by the Service Manager What we’re looking for from the successful candidate: If you have a methodical, conscientious approach to work and enjoy solving mechanical problems, this could be the role for you. • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, generator systems, and mechanical components • Proficient with diagnostic tools to accurately identify and resolve faults • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Good communication and organisational skills • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or mechanical training is advantageous • Certification in diesel mechanics or related field is preferred • Full UK Driving Licence • Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy equipment and work in demanding environments • Ability to travel to sites when required • Willingness to work flexible hours and attend emergency callouts when needed • Must have the legal right to work in the UK Hours: Full-time position (hours to be confirmed with successful applicant) May include occasional emergency callouts depending on business needs.
