Mental Health Professional - Development Role

The Complex Needs Service (CNS) supports patients withComplex Emotional and Relational Needs using the Structured Clinical Management(SCM) framework. This role will see you working as part of a well-resourced,multidisciplinary team, where your contributions will play a significant partin a persons transformative recovery.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 togain a development role within the CNS Team.Thisis not a typical MHP role. You will see you patients weekly and develop a goodtherapeutic rapport enabling you to deliver psychologically informed therapieswithin the SCM framework. You arenot expected to apply for this role with all the knowledge required- we willprovide all training required for the right candidate to fulfil the role.

As a Mental HealthPractitioner (MHP) within CNS, your clinical responsibilities will focus on asmall caseload. You will have a high level of both line management and clinicalsupervision, weekly reflective practice and protected peer led workshop spaces.You will receive training in SCM, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and MentalizationBased Treatment (MBT). This is provided via a range of methods includingexternal training, supervision and peer support.

The successful completion of the developmentprogramme will culminate in promotion to Band 6 within 12 months of employmentand on completion of competencies.

This is full time post, but we wouldconsider applicants looking for part time.


Main duties of the job

You willbe a vital part of the patients journey throughout the Structured ClinicalManagement treatment program from, Assessment, stabilisation, treatment,graduation and discharge back to their GP.

This isnot a typical MHP role. You will see you patients weekly and develop a goodtherapeutic rapport enabling you to deliver psychologically informed therapieswithin the SCM framework.

Yourpatients, as they move throughout the treatment program, will also have CNSSkills group and additional appointments with the Occupational therapyassistants and Peers support works as needed.

You willwork Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm excluding bank holidays.

Yourmaximum caseload will be 10 patients

You will beexpected to be a co-facilitator in some group work such as CNS Skills group.

We are asupportive multidisciplinary team with a diverse skillset and for any queriesthat arise in your day there is a variety of different disciplines available toaccess for support.

Inaddition to this you will have regular Clinical Supervision, Weekly Groupreflective practice, Management Supervision, protected time for peer ledworkshops, monthly CPD and Daily Huddles.

You willbe actively encouraged to undertake training to support you in your role andyour professional development.

Job responsibilities

Following assessment, where indicated, providetreatment using effective evidence-based interventions, as appropriate.

Deliver one-to-one and group-basedinterventions.

Ensure that information and progress regardingpatients are communicated promptly and accurately to other team members andrelevant organisations whilst having due regard for confidentiality.

Where indicated act as MHP to ensure that eachpatient in their care receives an individual assessment and regularly updatedcare plan which is formulated with the service user. This will be in line withthe Trusts Policy where indicated.

Standard keyboard skills to be able to meet theIT requirements of the post

Participate in regular clinical supervision withclinical supervisors and managerial supervision with line manager.

Undertake relevant training and work towardsaccreditation where desired to develop in your role as SCM Worker

Person Specification


Experience

* Assessment and management of clinical risk
* Working within a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of Care Coordination
* Training/developing staff and / or patients
* Experience of delivering evidence based psychosocial interventions


Qualifications

* Relevant professional qualification relating to Health or Social Care e.g., in nursing (RMN), social work (BSc/Dip SW), Occupational Therapy (BSc OT)
* Current professional registration
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
* Teaching/training qualification
* Psychological therapy qualification


Knowledge

* Knowledge of personality disorder
* Knowledge of EUPD
* Knowledge of Structured Clinical Management


Additional Criteria

* Able to meet travel requirements of the post

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
