We are seeking an experienced and driven Motor Trade Accountant to join our well-established and successful automotive business - Helensburgh Toyota. This is a key leadership role responsible for safeguarding company assets, ensuring financial compliance, and overseeing the smooth operation of both the Accounts and Vehicle Administration departments.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors and Department Managers, providing meaningful financial insight, robust reporting, and operational support to help drive business performance and strategic growth.

For the right candidate, there is the flexibility that this could be a 4 day week or 5 day week, and hybrid working is available.
Key Responsibilities
* Safeguard company assets through the efficient management of the Accounts and Vehicle Administration departments.
* Lead, develop, and support a competent and high-performing finance team.
* Prepare and deliver accurate monthly management accounts within agreed deadlines.
* Submit monthly manufacturer composite reports in line with franchise standards.
* Process monthly payroll using Sage50.
* Calculate and administer manufacturer bonus schemes.
* Ensure full compliance with HM Revenue and Customs policies and statutory reporting requirements.
* Manage and maintain the fixed asset register.
* Maintain accurate sales, purchase, and vehicle ledgers.
* Produce a fully reconciled balance sheet on a monthly basis.
* Perform daily bank reconciliations and maintain strong cash control procedures.
* Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, including P11D reporting.
* Conduct monthly VAT reporting checks and reconciliations.
* Maintain and administer the DMS system (CDK Drive).
* Safeguard confidential personnel files in accordance with data protection standards.
* Prepare year-end balance sheet schedules and liaise with external auditors.
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience in Motor Trade accounting.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a Management Team.
* Experience with Drive, Kerridge, Pinnacle, or similar DMS/accounting systems.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
* Proactive, initiative-taking, and commercially aware.
