Job Summary

Following the establishment of the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC) on 1st April 2024 and a recent organisational restructure, we are seeking a Welsh Kidney Network Lead Nurse (NWJCC) to support our journey as a newly formed organisation.

The NWJCC is a joint committee of the seven health boards in Wales, with a Chair and Lay Members. We support collaborative commissioning across Wales, with around 120 staff based in Mold and Nantgarw/Treforest.

Our mission is to be The Centre of Excellence for Collaborative Commissioning, improving health and care outcomes across Wales. We commission around 220 services, from NHS 111 and ambulance services to specialised rare disease services, and mental health, operating a £1.14bn budget.

Responsibilities

As Lead Nurse, you will work within the Welsh Kidney Network (WKN). You will play a pivotal role in representing the interests of kidney care nursing across Wales, leading the continual development of the workforce and providing expert nursing advice within kidney services.

You will work closely with the Network Manager and Clinical Lead for Quality and Patient Safety to provide assurance that high standards of patient care are consistently and equitably delivered. Professional responsibility will remain with the Director of Nursing, NWJCC. A key part of the role involves building strong relationships and improving communication across and within provider Health Boards.


Qualifications and Experience

* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration, educated to Degree or equivalent level of experience, skills and knowledge in relation to renal care and dialysis.
* Educated to masters level or equivalent qualification, knowledge and/or experience supplemented by highly specialist qualification.
* Highly specialist knowledge of legislative and policy framework underpinning the delivery of kidney care services.
* Clear understanding of the concept and working arrangements of diverse clinical area.
* High level knowledge of all current issues related to professional nursing practice.
* Knowledge about relevant quality monitoring of services and patient safety initiatives across the UK.
* Sufficient post registration experience at a very senior nursing level with experience of clinical leadership.
* Experience of developing and implementing governance frameworks to support service delivery and service change.
* Proven ability to lead and deliver significant clinical changes.
* Experience of working with senior management in assuring a strategic approach to implementing change.
* Experience of chairing and facilitating meetings whereby the context is of a clinically sensitive nature which may give rise to a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere.
* Experience in audit, research and contribution to delivering evidence based pathway change.
* Ability to analyse complex clinical issues/problems, identify necessary action and make recommendations and follow these through.
* Ability to influence, motivate and lead groups of staff.
* Proven ability to listen, empower, lead by example and lead through change, working as part of a multi professional team.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Able to travel across Wales in a timely manner.


Other Information

Contract: Secondment – fixed term for a minimum of 12 months and up to 36 months.

Working pattern: Full‑time, Flexible working.

Band: 8a – Salary £56,514 to £63,623 a year per annum.
