Full Stack Developer – AI Healthcare & Enterprise Products
Location: Check Communications Limited, Deeside, nr. Chester
Check Communications are at the forefront of AI-powered communication solutions for the UK’s Primary Care (NHS) and Contact Centre sectors. Our flagship platform, Check Cloud, already supports organisations across healthcare and enterprise communications.
We have now released Check AI Voice, an advanced AI-driven voice platform designed to transform how GP surgeries and enterprise organisations manage high-volume communication. From handling the 8am patient call rush to automating complex administrative workflows, Check AI Voice is redefining how organisations interact with customers and patients.
This is not just another development role.
The systems you help build will be used daily by thousands of NHS staff and potentially millions of patients, directly improving access to healthcare and operational efficiency across the NHS.
We operate as a fast-moving, highly innovative team, building products in a rapidly evolving AI landscape. We are looking for someone who thrives in that environment and wants to help shape the future of communication technology.
The Role
We are looking for a versatile Full Stack Developer to join our growing product team.
Your primary focus will be the development and evolution of Check AI Voice, alongside other projects across our Check Cloud platform.
This role sits at the intersection of AI, telephony, healthcare integration, and modern web applications. You will work across everything from user interfaces and workflow builders to backend integrations with telephony systems, AI services, and healthcare platforms.
We move quickly, rapid prototyping and iteration are a core part of our development culture. As such, we are looking for developers who are comfortable leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools (such as Cursor and similar technologies) to accelerate delivery, while still maintaining a strong grounding in software architecture, APIs, and scalable system design.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys building real products in the real world, not just writing isolated code.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop and maintain applications supporting AI voice systems and communication platforms.
* Work on the ongoing development of Check AI Voice, including voice workflows, integrations, and user interfaces.
* Build intuitive interfaces that allow organisations to configure complex AI and telephony workflows.
* Develop and maintain API-driven integrations with healthcare systems, messaging services, AI platforms, and telephony providers.
* Design and implement systems that handle real-time voice interactions and high-volume communications.
* Work across the full product lifecycle:
concept → prototype → production → scaling → ongoing optimisation.
* Rapidly prototype new features and concepts using modern AI-assisted development workflows.
* Collaborate closely with product, compliance, and commercial teams to turn ideas into production-ready solutions.
* Ensure applications remain secure, reliable, and compliant with healthcare governance requirements.
* Troubleshoot and optimise existing systems to ensure high performance and resilience.
* Write clean, efficient and maintainable code, contributing to peer review and shared development standards.
* Contribute ideas to product direction and help shape the future of our AI platforms.
Skills & Experience
We are open to developers at different stages of their career, provided they demonstrate strong ability and the right mindset.
Essential:
* Experience building full stack web applications.
* Strong understanding of APIs and system integrations (REST, JSON, webhooks etc).
* Experience working with modern JavaScript frameworks and web technologies.
* Comfortable working with databases and backend services.
* Strong understanding of software architecture and scalable system design.
* Experience building production-ready applications, not just prototypes.
* Strong problem-solving ability and the ability to work independently when required.
* Comfortable working in a rapid development environment where products evolve quickly.
* Willingness to use modern AI-assisted development tools (such as Cursor) to accelerate development.
* Experience with AI / LLM integrations.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure).
Desirable (but not essential):
* Experience with voice, telephony or real-time communication systems.
* Experience working with healthcare systems or regulated environments.
* Experience building workflow automation tools or visual builders.
* Experience with modern product development approaches and rapid prototyping.
What We Offer
* The opportunity to build products that are used daily by thousands of NHS staff and patients, helping improve access to healthcare across the UK.
* A role where your work will have real-world impact, not just internal tooling.
* The chance to work on cutting-edge AI voice technology at a pivotal moment in its development.
* A highly collaborative team where your ideas genuinely shape the product.
* Competitive salary aligned with experience and contribution.
* Flexible hybrid working, once youve passed a probationary period.
A modern, people-first culture including:
* Modern office environment
* Hybrid working options
* Growth and learning opportunities
* Relaxed and supportive atmosphere
* Regular team socials
* Birthday day off
* Performance-based financial incentives
If youre excited by the idea of building AI products that genuinely transform how organisations communicate, we’d love to hear from you.
