About the Role
The Specialty Doctor (Anaesthetics) will be based at Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin, Scotland. The position is full‑time, with flexible and part‑time options available, and may be fixed‑term for up to one year.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and lead a joint job plan that aligns the needs of the Anaesthesia Department with the person’s career goals.
* Contribute to local and regional management activities, including the expansion of the Consultant workforce to meet Royal College of Anaesthetists requirements.
* Play an active role in the newly established Consultant‑led Obstetric Anaesthesia service, including the creation of a resident non‑consultant rota tier.
* Provide high‑quality anaesthetic care across the department, with a focus on obstetric cases when required.
* Act as a mentor and support international clinicians new to NHS practice.
Qualifications & Experience
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a licence to practise in the UK prior to starting.
* Clinical experience in anaesthesia, with evidence of surgical caseload and exposure to obstetric anaesthesia encouraged.
* Experience overseas and from non‑UK medical graduates is welcomed.
* Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient safety and excellence in care.
Compensation and Contract
A 1.5 annual salary point allowance is offered. The contract type may be permanent or fixed‑term for one year, depending on service needs.
Location
Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin, NHS Grampian. Inverness is 35 mi west; Aberdeen 65 mi east.
