TheRole:
We are looking to recruit aQuantity Surveyor to join our growing team. Reporting to the SeniorQuantity Surveyor you will seek to minimise the cost and risk of aconstruction project and enhance value for money while stillachieving the required legal standards and quality.
As Quantity Surveyor you will support with thetender stage through preparing estimates and costs of the work andBills of Quantities for contractor tender packs. As the projectprogresses you will prepare and execute Small Works Contracts withSubContractors keep track of any variations to the contract andcreate reports to show profitability. The role will also includethe commercial derisking of contracts financial managementnegotiation and agreeing contracts.
The keyresponsibilities of the roleare:
* Working as part of a teamalongside the Senior Quantity Surveyor working on multiple projectssimultaneously and demonstrating the skillset to workindependently.
* Developing and demonstrating anunderstanding of High Voltage Power Systems and/ or CivilEngineering.
* Compiling detailed bills ofquantities and invitation to tenders.
* Tendering of both the grid connection andprivate network infrastructure from LV up to and including 132kV.
* Drafting of technical descriptions of both thegrid connection and private network infrastructure from LV up toand including 132kV.
* Technical review of tenderprojects scope and of contractorstenders.
* Working with the design team on theconstruction of project layout drawings.
* Working with the construction manager oncreating and updating quote templates.
* Contributing to bids to win newbusiness.
* Monitoring commercial operationalactivities across multiple projects.
* Commercialassistance in drafting subcontractors.
* Monthlyfinancial review with the project management team of allsubcontractors.
* Resolving disputes withincontracts.
* Assistance with contractadministration.
* Projecting positive cashflowand milestone creation. Invoicingsubstantiation.
* Projecting risk registerengagement.
* Working efficiently and calmly totight deadlines or as other stress factorsarise.
* Mentoring members inside and outside ofyour team to help the business needs.
* Followingall published guidelines standards policies and procedures.
* Attend training as required to maintainknowledge and application of processes and procedures.
* Engaging in a culture of continuous businessimprovement.
ThePerson:
The ideal candidate willhave a proven track record of working as a Quantity Surveyorrelated to grid connections or civil engineering. You will havedemonstrated experience of working and interfacing with clients andkey stakeholders on multiple projectssimultaneously.
The successful candidate willhave excellent communication skills and be highly organised withthe ability to prioritise a busy workload. You will have aproactive nature an initiativetaking approach and the ability toeffectively problem solve. Attention to detail an eye for accuracyand strong MS Excel skills are required.
Ideallyyou will hold a degree in Quantity Surveying/ ConstructionCommercial Management or equivalent. A strong understanding ofbusiness finances would be highly beneficial.
