Fire and Rescue Driving Training Instructor - OX3 7JGNumber of Positions: 1Contract Type: Fixed TermSalary: £41771 - £45091Working Hours: 37Location: OxfordshireBusiness Unit: Fire Services & Community SafetyAbout UsWe are a team of six based at Slade Fire station, we work as a partner with Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue service as a driver training team. We provide all aspects of driver training for fire & rescue staff. The training will be delivered from various sites across the partnership. About the RoleTo be successful in the role, you will ideally have previous experience of working in a training environment with the ability to work not only unsupervised but as part of team to delivery various driver training activities to meet the demand of the fire & rescue sector. This is a busy role with many competing demands. This role will involve delivering, creating training packages, meeting and working with a variety of staff and partners and attending associated meetings and training for your development within the role. The role is based on a fixed term contract of 3 months with an option to extend to 6 months.Key Team Responsibilities:Deliver and assess driver training across a range of fire and rescue vehicle and locations.Maintain accurate records of training activities, assessments, and participant progress.Update and develop training materials to reflect current best practices and legislative requirements.Ensure all training courses comply with National Fire Chiefs Council, Driving Vehicle Standards Agency, and relevant legislative standards.Manage training equipment and resources, ensuring they are fit for purpose and available as needed.Lead initiatives related to environmental training and sustainability within the organisation.Collaborate with external partners and other fire and rescue services to enhance training outcomes.Support quality assurance processes to monitor and improve training delivery.Undertake additional tasks as required to support the overall objectives of OFRS.Required Qualifications and Competencies:LGV Category C with at least 3 years’ experience.Emergency response driving experience/qualifications.Must hold GCSE Math’s and English (or equivalent) at Grade C or above.Must be able to demonstrate computer literacy including the ability to use MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Recognised instructional or coaching qualification.Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).Strong organisational, communication, and record-keeping skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamCompliance and StandardsAll aspects of the role must adhere to NFCC and DVSA standards, as well as current legislative and organisational policies.Collaboration and External EngagementThe successful candidate will engage proactively with external partners, other fire and rescue services, and relevant stakeholders to enhance training quality.About youYou should have the ability to work independently and be able to prioritise competing demands and pressures to meet the deadlines. Excellent communication, attention to detail and ability to complete reports. You should have with the ability to use Microsoft applications effectively.
