Clinical Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Public Health

You will strengthen the academic base of Public Health Medicine within the Centre for Public Health, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) and the Public Health Agency (PHA). You will work as part of both the PHA and QUB academic teams, specializing in public health and epidemiology.
Your responsibilities include undertaking research aligned with the School’s research strategy, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, and contributing to the School’s administration and outreach activities. You will contribute to strategic objectives related to research, education, innovation, and international impact, in line with the Belfast Region City Deal investments aimed at creating an integrated ecosystem for health and life sciences.
You will lead research programs relevant to the School’s strategy, focusing on major public health risk factors such as diet and lifestyle. You will foster links between the Public Health ecosystem and researchers within CPH / MDBS, and develop national and international collaborations to advance research activities.
You will provide specialist leadership, advice, and support to the PHA, and deliver public health duties to meet your team’s objectives. This includes leading complex public health work programs within multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with colleagues. You will maintain and develop effective relationships with various stakeholders involved in public health, providing expert guidance. Close collaboration with local, regional, and national partners—including the Department of Health, Health and Social Care Trusts, Primary Care, local councils, voluntary sectors, UKHSA, PH Scotland, PH Wales, and the Health Service Executive in Ireland—is essential.

The essential educational and qualification requirements for both grades are:
* Primary Degree
* Higher degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent)
* Inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice, GDC Specialist List, or inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists at the time of application
* If on the GMC Specialist Register or GDC Specialist List in a specialty other than public health medicine/dental public health, candidates must have equivalent training or appropriate experience in public health practice
* Public health specialty registrar applicants not yet on the GMC Specialist Register, GDC Specialist List, or UKPHR must provide verifiable evidence that they are within six months of gaining registration at the time of interview
* If trained in the UK, applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of its award at interview. Non-UK trained applicants must demonstrate equivalence to the UK CCT
* Applicants must meet minimum Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements as per the Faculty of Public Health or other recognized body
* MFPH qualification by examination, exemption, assessment, or equivalent
