Residential Support Worker (Night time)
£12.60 per hour with sleep over increment
Hours: 5:00 PM–11:00 PM work, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM sleep-over (no pay but with increment), 7:00 AM–9:00 AM work
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Support Worker to join our team. To provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with mental health needs in a residential care setting. The role focuses on promoting independence, dignity, and well-being through practical and emotional support, while maintaining a safe and structured environment.
Responsibilities
Support & Independence
* Encourage and support residents to live as independently as possible, in line with their individual abilities and care plans.
* Motivate residents to engage in daily living skills, such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and community participation.
* Promote each individual's ability to contribute meaningfully, respecting their rights, choices, and limitations.
Daily Living & Domestic Duties
* Assist with and sometimes carry out cooking and meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs and preferences are met.
* Support residents with maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within their rooms and communal areas.
* Undertake household cleaning, laundry, and basic domestic tasks as required.
Health & Medication
* Administer medication according to organisational policies and residents' care plans.
* Monitor and report any changes in health, mood, or behaviour to senior staff or healthcare professionals.
Safeguarding & Risk Management
* Follow safeguarding protocols to protect vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
* Adhere to risk assessments and contribute to their review and development.
* Respond to incidents or emergencies calmly and professionally, reporting appropriately.
Record Keeping & Communication
* Accurately record daily living activities, medication administration, and incidents in line with organisational policy.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of each resident's care plan, risk assessments, and support strategies.
* Work effectively as part of a team, sharing information appropriately and attending regular handovers, training, and supervision sessions.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Experience or knowledge of working with individuals with mental health conditions (personal or professional).
* Basic IT and written communication skills for record-keeping.
* Basic cooking and domestic skills.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to follow care plans and written instructions accurately.
* Understanding of safeguarding and health & safety in a care setting.
Qualifications / Requirements
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
* Medication Administration training (or willingness to undertake it).
* First Aid, Fire Safety, or Mental Health Awareness certificates.(highly desirable and will be prioritised)
Additional Information
* The role involves shift work, including weekends, and public holidays.
* Enhanced DBS check required before employment.
* Ongoing training and development provided.
* Attending Staff Training sessions and Staff meetings
