The team We currently have a role for a Paralegal within our Private Wealth, Tax and Employment Team based in Edinburgh. The Paralegal will work in support of 2 practising solicitors in delivering effective legal advice and service to clients in the area of residential conveyancing; the role will include assisting in conveyancing transactions including ordering reports and also drafting transfers of title and discharges of standard securities and associated forms, with direct client contact. The role MAIN DUTIES: The main duties of the role will include: Providing administrative support to the house sales processes. Preparing correspondence on behalf of solicitors. Dealing with LBTT drafting, registration forms, and ordering legal reports and plans reports Liaising with legal support team to ensure client service is maintained. Progressing sales from after the application is loaded to completion. Providing monthly and quarterly reports on current statuses of applications received, missives concluded, cancelled applications and properties sold. Meeting appropriate CPD requirements and attending relevant training seminars both in-house and externally; and Attending networking events and undertaking business development, where appropriate. To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the supervising solicitor. KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES: Knowledge and understanding of residential property conveyancing in Scotland including an understanding of both sasine and land registered titles. Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills. Good IT skills and knowledge of office systems and procedures and file management. Experience of organising workloads to achieve priorities and objectives. Ability to work to agreed priorities on an autonomous basis subject to supervision by a qualified lawyer. Proactive and professional approach to role and a strong team player. Ability to work under pressure and to deliver to tight deadlines. Attention to detail and ability to produce work that is accurate. Ability to prioritise workload and demonstrate flexibility when required. Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships both externally and internally across the firm.
