A client within the Public Sector based in the East Midlands is currently recruiting for a Highways Management Officer to join their Highways Asset Management team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a highways maintenance environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to inspect, assess, record, and monitor works to ensure the highway network is safe and maintained, and to provide a one-stop service for highway and street scene concerns.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Undertaking highway condition surveys and risk-based inspections to identify maintenance needs
• Issuing orders and specifications for general maintenance, including safety arrangements and traffic management
• Enforcing compliance with NRSWA legislation, issuing penalties where appropriate
• Responding to and investigating public liability insurance claims, providing technical reports and evidence as needed
• Assessing and approving applications for licences related to highway use, such as vehicle crossings, scaffolding, and street cafés
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• NRSWA Supervisor Accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
• Highway Inspector Certification (or willingness to obtain)
• A full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Knowledge of highways legislation and relevant acts (e.g. Highways Act, NRSWA, TMA)
• Experience dealing with public complaints, technical enquiries, and enforcement matters
• Ability to work independently and prioritise a demanding workload
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £30 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £23 per hour PAYE).
