Offer description

The project consists of a Battery Energy Storage System ("BESS"), utilising an existing 'transmission' connection at the 275kV substation.

The facility will have a capacity of 150MW x 2 hours, divided among three independently operating blocks.


Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the execution of national grid projects, with a primary focus on substation development. The ideal candidate should possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering and have substantial experience in the design and construction of primary substations.


Key Responsibilities:


Design Expertise:

* Utilise electrical engineering principles to review primary and secondary substations design.
* Experience of substation, protection and control, switchgear and SCADA design for 275kV and above substations.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols in all design processes.
* Implement innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and reliability of substation systems.


Technical Proficiency:

* Demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical systems, control systems, and protection schemes within the context of primary substations.
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project execution.
* Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in electrical engineering.
* Undertake site inspections to verify installation against design.


Documentation and Reporting:

* Prepare and issue comment response sheets, RFI’s and TQ’s.
* Generate comprehensive project documentation, including technical specifications, reports, and drawings.
* Provide regular project status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensure all project documentation adheres to quality and regulatory standards.


Quality Assurance:

* Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standards in project deliverables.
* Conduct thorough reviews of designs, installations, and commissioning activities.


Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in design, with a focus on substation design, electrical systems, and protection schemes.

National Grid/Scottish Power experience.


Skills:

* In-depth knowledge of substation design, electrical systems, and protection schemes.
* Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent knowledge of NG Technical Specifications and Transmission Procedures.


Qualifications:

Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering or related field.
