Summary of the role
We are seeking an inspiring and adaptable teacher of Photography and Art to join our creative team at a vibrant and nurturing independent performing arts school. The appointed person would be expected to teach throughout the School from Year 7 – Year 13, but with a predominance of A level teaching.
Responsibilities
* Deliver digital photography teaching and contribute meaningfully to the wider Art curriculum.
* Teach across Year 7 to Year 13, with a predominant focus on A level provision.
* Engage and stretch students, fostering technical skill, personal expression, and a love of the visual arts.
* Collaborate with the Visual Arts Department (currently four specialist teachers) to develop innovative core units and curriculum vision.
* Organise and supervise visits to galleries and museums; lead Sixth Form trips (e.g., New York, Barcelona, Paris).
Teaching context and expectations
The Visual Arts Department operates across three dedicated Art studios. At GCSE and A level, students follow the Edexcel Fine Art and Photography specifications, with consistently excellent public examination results. A significant number of students progress to leading visual arts institutions. The school celebrates outstanding student work through curated displays and maintains high expectations for all students, with a focus on originality, curiosity, and individual expression.

The school operates on a shared responsibility ethos, with teachers contributing to the department’s vision and ethos. In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024 regulations, all staff are required to undergo background checks and hold an enhanced DBS.
