The Role
This is an opportunity to build a career in health, safety and fire risk management within a growing and supportive environment. You’ll start by learning the fundamentals—working closely with our H&S Coordinator to help ensure the business operates safely, responsibly, and in full compliance with legislation. Over time, you’ll develop into a fully qualified Health, Safety & Fire Advisor, taking ownership of site visits, fire risk assessments, and safety audits across our managed estates. We’ll support you in gaining your NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Fire Certificate over a two‑year period. The role also involves regular travel across the UK.
What You’ll Do
* Carry out fire and general risk assessments across a national portfolio
* Support the review of risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work, and COSHH documentation
* Produce and transcribe clear, accurate reports from assessment findings
* Help maintain and improve the Health & Safety Management System (aligned to ISO 45001)
* Collect and analyse risk data across the business
* Assist with accident and incident investigations
* Monitor and manage accident and near‑miss reporting, escalating where needed
* Act as a first point of contact for H&S queries via the department inbox
* Review contractor documentation as part of the approval processSupport site audits and internal inspections
* Assist with staff inductions and training coordination
* Help manage fire safety across office locations, including drills and system checks
What You’ll Bring
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence (essential)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Degree (desirable, not essential)
* Fire Marshal / First Aid training (desirable)
* IOSH training (desirable)
Experience
* Experience with Qube Property Management software is advantageous (training provided)
* A proactive approach with strong research and report‑writing skills
* An understanding of, or interest in, health and safety regulations
Skills
* Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to focus on high‑impact risks
* Confident IT skills across Microsoft Office
* Commercial awareness and practical decision‑making
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams and with external partners
* Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal

This is a remote‑based role with regular travel to sites. Ideally, you’ll be located within an hour’s commute of Reading. The position offers a starting salary of £26,500, along with clearly defined progression opportunities.
